Meridian, Miss.
I'm actually on the verge of leaving this Southern berg after about 32 hours of relative leisure. I gave myself a "day off" yesterday, but still went to see what trouble I could stir up in town, relating most of it on the official blog.

I'm headed west again, as soon as I can check out of this Days Inn, get my Waffle House breakfast and walk the three miles to the train station. Hopefully I'll be in Louisiana soon.

sean mccann: the waffle house's most loyal customer. i could never stomach that place. anyway, what i want to know is - what's your wildest guess of what was going on in that pool hall??
My guess was actually that they were running some kind of illegal gambling operation. Just a guess, though.
While you're still down in the deep south, try and hit up a Huddle House. They're like a lunch version of Waffle House — the logo is white letters on orange squares, if I remember correctly — where almost everything is chicken fried.
Their interpretation of a Philly cheesesteak is particularly hysterical.

Hey, Sean, How cool is this! I didn't know I could leave comments for you. Love the blogs and stories, have been reading obsessively. At some point, you should venture into a tourist area and have someone take your picture so we can see why the homeless man thought you were in the same situation. Enjoy!
